Other Bits & Bobs

The things we love that we’ve popped in the trunk

Writing musicals means we’re always talking about ideas and writing things to explore them further. Sometimes a whole show is mapped out and worked on for months, but ultimately something stops us from developing the idea further. This doesn’t mean, however, that we don’t write things we love or want to share with the world. Here are some of our favourite ‘trunk songs’. Maybe they will be resurrected one day…

Watch & Listen

Little Patch of Green

Little Patch of Green follows the story of Hallie, a young woman who transforms a patch of green outside her house to improve the view for her mother who is unwell. In the process she becomes unlikely friends with a few neighbours, all of whom find comfort and purpose in developing the patch together.

Below are two songs from the show, performed at Cadogan Hall as part of the Starling 10+ show in 2022.

The Girl Who Has It All

The below was recorded live at All That Scratch at The Other Palace, performed by Rebecca Bailey and accompanied by Joe Davison. You can hear Emily & Anna talking about the song and listen to “The Girl Who Has it All” on Episode 2 of the All That Scratch podcast, 24m 30s in.

Make Some Noise

“Make Some Noise” first appeared at SIGNAL at the H Club (performed by Liberty Buckland) and was recorded, during the Covid-19 lockdown, by Jade Johnson. Check out that video below!
